Descrizione

Il nome specifico onora l'esploratore, botanico, artista, amministratore coloniale e linguista britannico Sir Henry Hamilton Johnston, meglio conosciuto come Harry Johnston, che raccolse il tipo e lo inviò al British Museum (Storia Naturale). Questa specie può raggiungere una lunghezza di 20 cm.

Diffusione

È una specie di ciclidi originari del Lago Malawi, del Lago Malombe e del corso superiore del fiume Shire dove preferisce acque poco profonde con abbondante vegetazione.
